If you are considering an in-home lifestyle session, chances are you are worried about having the “perfect” house, right?! Is my home clean enough? Is it styled perfectly?! What am I missing, or what do I have too much of? Before you let those thoughts consume your mind, just know that whatever makes your house your home is all that you need. How to Style Your Home for an In-Home Lifestyle Session

Before anything else, I want to emphasize that your home is YOUR home. What do you want to be in the photos when you look back on the photos years later? What will bring you that sense of home sweet home when you look at the photos? I want your home to be a direct reflection of the season of life you are in. So, my main tip? Don’t stress. I promise it is perfect exactly as it is.

Decluttering

You know that stack of mail on your counter you can’t seem to get to just yet, or that stack of random things you have accumulating in the corner? Your house doesn’t have to be perfectly and professionally cleaned, but getting rid of the clutter will keep the focus on your family during your session.

Choosing Outfits

When thinking about how to style your home for an in-home lifestyle session, don’t forget that what you wear matters, too! Think about what colors and patterns decorate your home. Is your home more warm and neutral, or cool-toned? Find outfits that compliment your home decor and don’t clash against each other. Keep your colors muted, and avoid the bright neon or big logos.

If you are looking for all the best ways to style your home for an in-home lifestyle session, just remember that the most important thing is your family and your home. How do you want this to be remembered in 50 years? Is your home filled with arts and crafts from your little ones? Do you have fresh baked goods lining the table? Whatever makes you think of HOME, is what I want to capture
